• Shaun O'Keefe I Financial Adviser

Be a contributor

I used to think that to be successful I had to focus on my success first. That it would come from my self-focussed hustle and sweat. And that contributing to the lives of others was to be second to my agenda.

Not true. This kind of thinking was deceptive and I learnt some pretty tough lessons from it. But I don’t think like that now thanks to those good men and women who have invested in my life. I’m a product of those ‘Contributors’.

I've found that as a financial adviser I get to help people in one of the more sensitive and influential parts of their lives. But it always involves more than just looking at budgets and planning their finances.

You see, most of the successful people I know are Contributors. These are people from all walks of life and varied career paths who are personally successful in health, wealth and happiness because they hold close to certain values.

• They like people. Genuinely.

• They put others before themselves and are not afraid to get their hands dirty.

• They're generous with their time, skills and financial resources.

• They're humble and they lead by example. You want to be like them.

My life, and all the good things in and around it, started to get richer when I aligned myself with the same values.

Contributors provide real solutions to real problems. They provide people with leadership and clear direction and they provide motivation and encouragement when things are tough. Contributors will lift people and give hope to see the good things and what’s possible in the lives of others. What they have is attractive - they’re the kind of people you want to be around. Shaun
